θαλαθθα + θεα = θαλαθεα
θαλαθθα (thalatha) is the Cretan prehellenic word for sea. θεα (thea) means goddess, or view, depending where your breath rests. The combination of these words fittingly describes the queen of the Greek islands - Crete. Wet to the north by the Cretan Sea, the Mediterranean to the West, and the Libyan sea to the south; when the greeks want to say that one pretends to not know something one is an expert on, they playfully say "...and the Cretan does not know the sea".
High and low, and all year round, Crete astounds: From its highest mountain peaks, to its deepest gorges and caves it is easy to understand why so many myths have been born on this island. Join the gods and heroes and weave your own myth amongst Zeus, Europa, Ariadne, the Minotaur, and the ultimate traveller, Odysseus. Let Crete be part of your journey and become a small part of its deep history.

“We LOVED Pure Joy! The house itself is very clean, stylish, and spacious; wonderful to come home to. It was perfect for our group of four with two bathrooms and plenty of space both indoors and outdoors to hang out. The location can't be beat - it's a short walk to the Old Venetian Harbor, countless restaurants and shops, and a lovely sunset view by the water, but also on a quiet and charming dead-end street. Both the street and the space were just adorable. The hosts are incredible - fantastic communication, thoughtful touches in place when you arrive, and excellent responsiveness. Check in and out was very easy. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and wouldn't hesitate to return to Pure Joy if we're fortunate enough to visit Chania again.”
